The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, in cooperation with Zamalek Art Gallery, launched The Futuristic Nostalgia Group exhibition, titled ““Alexandria 3000, City of Wisdom, Joy, and Immortality,” on Sunday, 14 October 2018, at 5:00 pm.

The philosophy of Futuristic Nostalgia is based on the transformation of the traditional meaning attached to the concept of nostalgia as a connection to the past and the longing for a bygone era. The artists, in this exhibition, reflect their belief in the shining future of the city of Alexandria through artworks that assert the importance of preserving the city’s heritage, status and cheerful nature.

The opening ceremony was followed by a seminar to discuss the artworks showcased in the exhibition. Both Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University, and artist Dr. Farghaly Abd Elhafiz took part in the discussion that was moderated by Dr. Mostafa Abd Elmoaty, Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University. Artists Yasmine Hazek, Aya Elfalah, Omneya Eldemerdash, Noha Diab, Adel Mostafa, Yasmine Haider and Carelle Homsy also participated in the discussion.

The exhibition is held in the BACC West Exhibition Hall, and continues until 20 October 2018.
