The BA Donation and Exchange Unit received the personal library of Ambassador Dr. Mahmoud Mortada, which comprises  nearly 1911 books and periodicals in different literary, political and historical subjects.

The BA receives periodically a large number of donations from individuals and governmental institutions, in Egypt and abroad, in order to develop its collection as part of its aim to be a hub for the production and dissemination of knowledge.

It is worth mentioning that Ambassador Dr. Mahmoud Mortada obtained his BA in Political Science from Cairo University in 1961 and his PhD in 1973. He joined the Diplomatic Service in 1963 and held several positions in Egyptian embassies in Athens, Algiers, Beijing and Berlin. He also worked with Dr. Moustafa El-Feki in 1978 in the project of collecting and registering documents of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, later known as the “Group of White Books.”

Additionally, He was the Consul of Egypt in Hong Kong from 1981 to 1983, after which he worked as Ambassador of Egypt to Berlin, Brazil and Yemen from 1990 to 2000. During this period, he was the Permanent Representative of Egypt to the Arab League from 1994 to 1996.
