The International Federation of Library Associations Center for Arabic Speaking Libraries (IFLA-CASL) at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) is holding the IFLA-BA Annual Conference for Publishing Concerns. The conference takes place, during the time of Cairo International Book Fair, at the BA Conference Center, 4–5 February 2019.
The main theme of the conference is “Publishing Concerns and their Impact on the Arab World”. The conference offers library professionals and academics from Egypt and all the Arab world a platform to discuss the latest trends and techniques in the field of publishing.
The Arabic Library Standards services will be attending the conference, exhibiting its various publications, such as MARC 21 Formats in Arabic and their latest updates in the conference exhibition, besides presenting its new, developing projects and standards.
It is worth mentioning that MARC 21 Formats are standards by which bibliographic information is documented in a machine-readable form. It is considered one of the most efficient systems in data creation and sharing. Hence, the Arabic translation benefits Arab catalogers, providing them with an international standard in their mother tongue.
