The BA announces the shortlist of Abdel Rahman El-Abnudi Prize for Slang Poetry and Critical Studies

The BA and Hassan Rateb Foundation for Creativity are honored to announce the shortlist of the second round of Abdel Rahman El-Abnudi Prize for Slang Poetry and Critical Studies. The BA started receiving submissions at Sinnari House in Cairo, from 15 October 2019 until the end of January 2020. Submitted works were then assessed based on a point system (out of 400 points), and approved by Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the BA.
The shortlist for Slang Poetry is as follows:
- Ahmed Mohamed Moustafa Abdel Hay, for his poem Alhazima Elkamla (The Total Defeat)
- Khalaf Qorani Gaber Abdel Azim, for his poem Ayel Bytayar Ghanaweih (A Child Flying his Songs)
- Amr Helal Abdel Qawy Badr, for his poem Akher Mahatat Elsha'a (The Final Levels of Misery)
- Mohamed Adel Abdel Rahman Mohamed, for his poem Habeel (Abel)
- Hadir Samir Helmy Shousha, for her poem Kohl Mlwen (Colored Kohl)
The shortlist for Critical Studies is as follows:
- Reda Attiya Iskandar Farag, for his study "Representations of the Egyptian Identity in the Poetry of Abdel Rahman El-Abnudi"
- Amr Ahmed Mohamed Elazaly, for his study "Streams of Achieving Specificities in Abnudi's Poetic Project"
- Kamilia Abdel Fattah Hefny Amer, for her study "Elements of Narrative in Poetry: From Ahmed Semaen to El-Abnudi"
It is worth mentioning that Abdel Rahman El-Abnudi Prize for Slang Poetry and Critical Studies was first launched in 2018, in a ceremony held at the BA Sinnari House and attended by Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Dr. Hassan Rateb, Mrs. Nihal Kamal, and a host of prominent intellectuals, writers, and poets.
