A grand competition for Arabic calligraphy at the BA
Posted on
The BA Writing and Scripts Center, in collaboration with the Directorate of Education in Alexandria, organizes a competition entitled “The Collective Panel in Arabic Calligraphy” for school students in Alexandria.
The competition is based on creating a collective panel for the different types of Arabic calligraphy, where students can display their calligraphic, artistic, and decorative skills. The Writing and Scripts Center will be in charge of the judging process that is held in cooperation with Arabic calligraphy experts. The result of the competition will be announced online, and a copy of the result will be sent to the Directorate of Education in Alexandria.
It is worth noting that the competition is one of many activities adopted by the BA Writing and Scripts Center, to help disseminate and promote the interest in Arabic calligraphy and its aesthetics. The Center also aims to train teachers on how to appreciate the art of Arabic calligraphy, which in turn refines the artistic taste of the students, and helps them advance academically. Moreover, the competition is held in line with the “Vision of Egypt 2030” regarding pre-university education and was established to sponsor talented students, provide them with advanced education and knowledge, and support them during the current circumstances.
The deadline for submitting the panel is 25 July 2020.
The results of the competition will be announced on 15 August 2020.
