The BA Library Sector announced that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) had launched the online Arabic version of the UNESCO Thesaurus that was produced by the BA Information Institutions and Professional Skills Department, in collaboration with the UNESCO. The ‘Thesaurus’ is currently available in Arabic, English, French, Russian, and Spanish. This initiative comes as part of the BA leading role in the dissemination of knowledge to the international community in general, and the Arab community in particular.
It is worth mentioning that the UNESCO Thesaurus is a controlled and structured list of terms used in subject analysis and retrieval of documents and publications in the fields of education, culture, natural sciences, social and human sciences, communication and information. The Arabic version of the ‘Thesaurus’ is a valuable addition to the Arabic-speaking communities, especially to their researchers.
