The Alexandria Center for Hellenistic Studies, affiliated to the BA Academic Sector, organized a workshop entitled “A Sailor in the Museum”, in cooperation with the Alexandria Center for Maritime Archaeology and Underwater Cultural Heritage (Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University), and the Alexandria National Museum. The workshop took place at the Alexandria National Museum, as part of the Museum 17th anniversary celebration.
The workshop targeted children aged 6 – 12 years old, and introduced them to underwater cultural heritage and the ways of preserving it through a number of interactive and exciting activities, using the latest educational and technological techniques.
It is worth mentioning that “A Sailor in the Museum” workshop is one of several workshops organized by the postgraduate students of the Alexandria Center for Maritime Archaeology and Underwater Cultural Heritage, as part of a project funded by the Honor Frost Foundation in the UK. The project was held in collaboration with the Alexandria Center for Hellenistic Studies, and was delivered in the form of a workshop titled “Raising Awareness about Underwater Cultural Heritage (Seas)”, that took place at the BA Khadija Palace, in March 2020.
