The BA Sustainable Development Studies, Youth Capacity Building, and African Relations Support Program is hosting Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Egyptian Minister of Environment, in a live webinar with the students of the African League of Young Masters (ALYM) Program on Saturday, 27 March 2021, at 3:00 pm, in the BA Conference Center.
Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the BA, said that the Library is adopting this youth-based African platform in order to strengthen the African-Egyptian relations and create channels of cooperation between African young people and their Egyptian peers.
These students study at Alexandria, Ain Shams, Cairo, Tanta, and Zagazig Universities, and specialize in the fields of engineering, commerce, veterinary medicine, pharmacology, and nursing. They come from several African countries including South Sudan, Malawi, Uganda, Sudan, the Comoros, Burundi, Liberia, Madagascar, and Egypt. Through the African League of Young Masters (ALYM) Program, students are able to build their scientific capacity and knowledge, while gaining new skills that are relevant to the current age.
It is worth mentioning that the BA Sustainable Development Studies, Youth Capacity Building, and African Relations Support Program organizes a number of programs that aim to develop the skills and knowledge of young Egyptians and Africans on topics such as sustainable development, climate awareness, and the preservation of natural resources. These programs include the Youth for Environmental Sustainability and Better Understanding Program (for students aged 13 – 18), the League of Young Masters (for university students), the African League of Young Masters (for African students studying at Alexandria University), and the African League of Young Masters in Cairo (for African students at Cairo, Ain Shams, and Helwan Universities).
The meeting will be held in line with the precautionary measures followed at the BA to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. It will be broadcast online for students who are unable to attend in person.
