"The Cost of Violence against Women: Challenges and Coping Mechanisms" in a BA Expert Meeting
Posted on
The BA Women Studies and Social Transformation Program (WSST) is organizing an expert meeting entitled "The Cost of Violence against Women: Challenges and Coping Mechanisms". The meeting discusses the mechanisms and measures that contribute to eliminating the phenomenon of violence against women, and aims to shed light on the cost incurred by the Egyptian society that results from gender-based violence, whether this cost is tangible, such as the damages borne by the health sector and the work environment, or intangible, which is represented by the spread of certain beliefs and popular cultures that would stereotype the role of women and reduce their social status. Moreover, the meeting seeks to examine patterns of social relations and daily interactions between members of society, and identify methods of using power in different social and class structures.
The meeting will be attended by a group of experts, members of Parliament and the Senate, university professors, judges, decision-makers, and other specialists and those interested in women's issues. It is held on Tuesday, 13 December 2022, at 10:00 am, in the BACC Delegates Hall.
