The seminar was moderated by Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Professor of Sociology and Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
Prof. Zayed stated that the Bibliotheca Alexandrina holds these seminars as part of its belief in the importance of social sciences in a changing world full of crises and problems, and highlighted the importance of generating ideas since dialogue is what opens up horizons, pointing out that meetings are a good opportunity for researchers of sociology to benefit from the ideas put forward and raise Arab sociology to the international level.
For his part, Prof. Mabrouk Boutagouga noted that this session aims to motivate Arab sociologists to join major international institutions and practice activities through them. He explained that there is major problem in the Arab world, which is the weak and fragmented efforts of Arab sociologists.
Moreover, he touched on his attempts to disrupt the state of fragmentation of the Arab situation through the establishment of Fa3iloon Center, and the participation in international institutions, particularly the World Congress of Sociology, and mentioned that the Arab presence in international institutions is almost non-existent and does not reflect the great history of Arab scientists.
He also added that the situation in the Arab world has developed over the last ten years, especially with the establishment of the Arab Council for the Social Sciences as well as the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, stressing the need to communicate with the Western world to assess the developments in the field of sociology.
