The Bibliotheca Alexandrina organized today a celebration on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the October War victory, which began with a seminar that hosted fighters who participated in the war, including Major General Elmi Hussein Kamel, one of the heroes of the 133rd Battalion, who took part in the famous Battle of Abu Atwa that prevented the fall of the city of Ismailia. The event also witnessed the participation of Major General Mohamed Rabie Moustafa, a missile engineer during the war, and Dr. Mohamed Nour El-Din, one of the heroes of the Battle of Kabreet, whose men survived under siege. Dr. Nour El-Din was decorated for bravery (First Class Medal) by President Sadat. The event was moderated by Dr. Ibrahim Abdullah, President of the October 1973 Champions Association.

At the end of the seminar, Dr. Mohamed Soliman, Head of the BA Cultural Outreach Sector, honored the heroes who took part in the celebration, as well as others including Heneidy Abu Shleif, Ali Abdel Ghani, Mohamed Gad Zaki, Samir Nooh, Ahmed Al-Khatib, Mohamed Khater, El-Araby Mohamed Ahmed, Ibrahim Saudi, Saeed Al-Sabbagh, El-Sayed Ahmed Al-Tayeb and Mohamed Nasr Abu Al-Dahab.
