The BA Information Institutions and Professional Skills Department, in cooperation with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), launched today the "Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Adaptations" conference.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the BA; Dr. Yousry El-Gamal, former Minister of Education and Senior Consultant at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport; Dr. Mohamed El-Gohary, President of Borg El-Arab Technological University; and Dr. El-Senussi Mohamed El-Senussi, Vice President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT).
On the sidelines of the conference, Dr. Ahmed Zayed inaugurated an exhibition that included a remarkable collection of AI projects presented by faculties at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology and Borg El-Arab Technological University.
Dr. Zayed said that artificial intelligence is a topic that occupies the entire world, therefore the BA pays great attention to it, pointing out that the Library is among the institutions that relied on modern technology and artificial intelligence within its departments.
He also mentioned that the conference comes within the framework of the role played by the BA in presenting discussions on issues that concern the youth and shape their future.
For his part, Dr. El-Senussi Mohamed El-Senussi, Vice President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, said in his speech, which is delivered on behalf of AASTMT President Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, that the Academy provides its services in many fields, including education, scientific research and consulting.
He also pointed to the need for a code of ethics with regard to the use of artificial intelligence, noting that this field will provide multiple job opportunities for young people in the future and will not, as some people claim, affect existing jobs.
The conference takes place over two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 - 11 October.
