Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, signed yesterday morning a cooperation agreement with Prof. Mohamed Yehia Nassef, Chief Executive Officer of the General Authority for Adult Education.

Dr. Zayed stated that the curriculum developed by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina to teach reading and writing to adults helps students interact socially and use modern devices such as credit cards, mobiles and computers.

For his part, Dr. Mohamed Yehia Nassef expressed his delight at the BA's interest in digital and technological literacy, as it works with the General Authority for Adult Education on an important digital project that is aimed at improving the quality of life of ordinary people.

After the signing ceremony, the two sides exchanged a number of gifts, as Ms. Manar Badr, Senior Librarian at the BA, explained the pilot literacy course conducted as part of the "Book and Screen" program, which aims to develop a new curriculum for teaching reading and writing to adults. This curriculum aims to train learners to handle different types of texts that they encounter in their daily lives, such as forms, contracts, pamphlets, banners and advertisements. It also attempts to integrate the mobile phone into the educational process, as it is among the most important media used in reading and writing in contemporary life.
