The BA Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex Med) has released the book The Sufis of Alexandria and Their Architectural Facilities in the Islamic Period, by Dr. Ayman El-Gohary.

The book explores an important aspect of the history of the city of Alexandria in the Islamic and modern eras, as it seeks to identify the reasons for the connection of scholars, ascetics, and righteous people to the city of Alexandria and for establishing residence there, especially those coming from the Maghreb.

In the first chapter, the book presents the concept of Islamic Sufism, its origin, stages of development, and intellectual influences, while the second chapter discusses Sufism and Sufis in Alexandria from the 6th-13th centuries AH (12th -19th centuries). The third chapter highlights the facilities of Sufism in the city of Alexandria, drawing on historical documents and sources.
