At the BA: Experts Call for the Development of Human Rights Education in Educational Institutions

A number of experts in the field of education and human rights have called for the development of human rights curricula in schools and universities.
This statement was made during a joint symposium organized by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in collaboration with the National Council for Human Rights, entitled “The Dissemination and Promotion of a Culture of Human Rights.”
The first panel discussion of the symposium was titled “A Critical Analytical View of Human Rights Curricula in Higher Education,” with the participation of Dr. Elham Abdel Hamid, Professor of Curricula and Teaching Methods at the Faculty of Higher Educational Studies, Cairo University, and Mr. Negad El-Borai, Human Rights Activist and Lawyer at the Court of Cassation. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Yousry El-Gamal.
The second session was entitled "Spreading a Culture of Human Rights in Society: Values and Purposes," with the participation of Dr. Hany Ibrahim, Secretary General of the National Council for Human Rights, and Dr. Yousra Shaaban, Professor of Civil Law at Ain Shams University. The session was moderated by Dr. Amany El-Tawil, Director of the African Program at Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies.
The symposium was attended by representatives of youth groups and civil society organizations.
