The BA Mourns Dr. Mohamed Saber Arab, Former Minister of Culture

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina mourns Dr. Mohamed Saber Arab, former Minister of Culture, who passed away on Sunday, 14 December. Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina – on behalf of the Library staff – extends his sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
Dr. Mohamed Saber Arab was born in 1949 in Desouk, Beheira, and served as Minister of Culture in Egypt following the 25 January Revolution in three successive governments. He was a professor of modern Arab history at Al-Azhar University, served as head of the National Library and Archives, and authored several important publications.
He received a number of honors and awards, most notably the State Appreciation Award in Social Sciences for 2011/2012 and was named Cultural Personality of the Year at Sharjah International Book Fair in 2017.
