The Bibliotheca Alexandrina has opened today the exhibition “Egyptian Cults around the Black Sea,” organized by its Antiquities Museum, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Cairo, and the Institute of Balkan Studies and Center of Thracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The exhibition runs from 10 to 17 February 2026.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; Ambassador Deyan Katratchev, Ambassador of Bulgaria to Cairo; and Dr. Vessela Atanassova, Director of the project “Thrace and Egypt in the Greco-Roman World.”

Through special explanatory panels, the exhibition presents collections of archaeological finds from various cities along the Black Sea coast. It also offers visitors a comprehensive and detailed picture of the multifaceted penetration of Egyptian cults into the Black Sea region, through the distribution of selected pieces across seven sections, including inscriptions, written monuments, bone artifacts, terracotta pieces, bronzes, and marble sculptures, as well as precious stones, rings, and coin collections
