Launch of the Public Information Center at the BA

Alexandria, 12 July 2005—A new center entitled the Public Information Center (PIC), is to be launched by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) in collaboration with the World Bank. Tuesday, 19 July 2005, will witness the signing of the agreement by Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Mr. Emmanuel Mbi, World Bank Egypt, Yemen and Djibouti Country Director, in the presence of business, academic, NGO and civil society members.
The World Bank PIC will be the focal point for access to World Bank’s publications, reports and other development-related publications. It also aims to be a gathering place for public discussions on development topics. The services provided by the Center cover all related information to development, not only regarding the World Bank, but also other partner institutions working in this field. It is also equipped with a special service for visually disabled users. Resources in print and electronic form will continuously be updated and made available free-of-charge.
Among the reports and documents available at the PIC are Project Information Documents, Project Appraisal Documents, Economic Sector Reports, loan agreements, bidding and consultant documents and UN Development Business publications.
