First meeting of the Arab Network for Women in Science and Technology

Alexandria, 29 November 2005—The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is hosting the First meeting of the Arab Network for Women in Science and Technology (ANWST), taking place today, 29 November 2005.

The meeting comprises of four sessions attended by ANWST Board of Executive, and Dr. Mohamed Jameel Arazaak, Director of UNESCO, Cairo Office; Dr. Amr Azouz, Senior Regional Advisor for Engineering Science & ICDL Program Director; Dr. Farouk El-Baz, Director of Center for Remote Sensing, Boston University; Dr. Mashael bint Mohammed Al Saud, King Saud University; as well as Dr. Farida alAlaqi, International Development Expert at UNDP.

During the sessions a number of issues concerning promoting the role of women in science and technology in the Arab world will be discussed. Participants will also highlight ANWST activities and functions; ANWST future challenges and perspectives; and they will conclude the sessions with recommendations and conclusions.
