The Taha Hussein Library at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is organizing a celebration entitled White Cane Safety Day celebration, for the first time in Egypt, to demonstrate the rights of the blind and visually impaired, raise awareness as to the how and why of using the cane, and to rally support of concerned parties for blind pedestrians.
The celebration features a number of events including a musical performance by the choir of Al Nour School for Blind Girls; an exhibition for clay artwork by the partially-sighted and blind; as well as a photographic exhibition of the white cane and its usage.
