The BA Alex-Med Center is organizing a program for the year 2017-2018 to raise awareness of the importance of the city of Alexandria through the ages under the title of "Scientific and Cultural Life and the Transfer of Knowledge" as a start, to correspond with the general policy of the BA that aims to spread awareness and fight extremism with enlightened thought.

The cultural and religious significance of Alexandria became much more prominent after Mark the Evangelist travelled to the city, after which it became a center of Christianity and a theological and cultural school that established the rules of reconciliation between science, culture and faith until it became the administrative capital of the country after the establishment of Fustat. Therefore, Professor Atef Awad, Professor of Coptic Architecture at the Institute of Coptic Studies, will deliver the second lecture of the cultural season, followed by Dr. Loaay Said, Director of the BA Coptic Studies Program. Professor Awad will speak about monasteries as a center of science and culture and the consistency of the architecture of the monasteries and the their spiritual and cultural role in different eras.
