Historical drama inspired by the true story of the South African leader Nelson Mandela, who was sentenced to life in prison for his political dispute against the state. During the years of his incarceration at Robben Island, Mandela rises to become the symbol of black South Africa. Meanwhile, the South African president F. W. De Klerk has made some reforms and released Mandela after spending 27 years in prison. Both decisions paved the way for the end of apartheid regime.
