Keeping in mind that, unlike many bacteria, viruses do not multiply in
food, it is impressive that more than 100 persons were confirmed as having
hepatitis A infection during this outbreak. In this relatively affluent
community of single family dwellings, secondary cases were rare. A
subsequent outbreak associated with an elementary school in a much poorer
area resulted in multiple generations of cases over more than a year's
period of time. |
