Knowledge of the
prevalence of diabetes in populations is essential for rational planning of health
services, identification of high-risk communities assessment of secular trends, and as a
foundation for etiological research. For diabetes in adults, which may often remain
asymptomatic and undetected in routine clinical practice, only such surveys can reveal the
true frequency of the disease. The survey was conducted with the use of standard oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). |
