This lecture is
a synopsis of the WHO’s Cervical cancer screening programmes: Managerial guidelines
(Miller AB, 1992) manuscript. It outlines the managerial factors to
consider when setting up a cytology screening programme. Its sister book “Cytological
screening in the control of cervical cancer: technical guidelines” covers the technical
aspects of programmes including taking of smears and their examination; reporting of
procedures; monitoring and evaluation of the system, personnel requirements and training;
and equipment and supplies required. These technical aspects will not be covered in this
lecture. |
