| The contamination resulting in foodborne outbreaks may take place at the level of an infected foodhandler, a distributor or at the initial source. Foodhandlers often eat meals or purchase food from their places of employment and may, themselves, be cases during an outbreak. In explosive situations, this may result in a shifting epidemic pattern. |
