concludes that H. pylori is a definite causal agent for human gastric cancer. However, 1) H. pylori infection is highly prevalent in African and Southeast Asian countries where gastric cancer rates are generally low (Gut 1992; 33: 429-31); 2) there is no sex difference in H. pylori infection, whereas males have an approximately 2-fold higher risk of gastric cancer. |
